I was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Los Angeles, CA where I started my musical journey performing in plays throughout my school years. I eventually decided to audition for the second season of the FOX show American Idol which launched my career rather quickly and has been progressing ever since. I moved on to join the Broadway cast of the hit show Rent and played the role of Effie White in Dreamgirls, which led to four wonderful years on Broadway, and eventually becoming a Grammy nominated artist as a cast member of the revival of Ain't Misbehavin.
I appeared on the first season of NBC's hit show The Voice and joined forces with Christina Aguilera and became one of the Top Finalists. My cover of "When Love Takes Over" landed at #3 on the iTunes Dance Chart. I have now ventured out and established my own label called Frenchie Davis Music Group.
I teamed up with international singer/songwriter Janice Robinson (Ashley Tisdale, Deborah Cox) to record my first single "Love's Got A Hold on Me," produced by rising star Magnificent. I also have plans to release a Christmas song and I'm in talks to develop a plus-size lingerie line.
